Hehe, deja vu!
Looks like I am blogging about exactly the same thing right? =P
I am doing these brush posts back-to-back because I think it would be more beneficial if I could seriously compare them both. So here goes!
Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki
Available: sigmabeauty.com, love-makeup.co.uk. About SGD30.
Volume: 1 brush.
Star Properties: Perfection.
Packaging
It came to me just like that. With that plastic, which is very good quality, so keep it for brush guard! The Sephora one doesn't has such a nice plastic brush guard.
Handle
Definitely good quality handle with substantial weight, heavier than Sephora 45. And I really like how the Sigma word is holographic.
Bristles
In my opinion, I feel no difference between this and Sephora's. But Sigma says that it's bristles are their own Sigmax HD fibre. Equally soft, fine, and effective.
I do feel a difference between Sephora's & Sigma vs. RealTechniques vs. Urban Decay.
Density
As can be seen, the bristles are very densely packed.
Shape
As the name goes, this is a flat top Kabuki. And I am not very fond of horizontal flat tops because that means you hand has got to be held higher in order to push the brush into your face.
I think I would enjoy the Sigma Angled Flat Top one a lot more, just because it's angled. But for now, this is not bad.
Key Difference between Sigma F80 and Sephora 45
Effectiveness is exactly the same. They will both give you perfect airbrushed skin.
The main difference depends on how much coverage you want.
A flat top kabuki gives higher coverage, just because it's not domed-out/tapered, so the bristles are all squeezed towards the middle, and is just that bit denser. Whereas for a domed one like Sephora 45, the bristles can fan out just a bit more, and gives that more feathery feel, which translates into a lower coverage.
I, very personally, prefer the Sephora 45 because I find the coverage from Sigma F80 to be a tad to heavy for my liking, such that my face looks way too perfectly airbrushed. Too perfect till it becomes unnatural and lacks that natural soft and supple look (like you just had a super good facial session).
However, this is really a personal preference as I am also not used to feeling the weight of products on my face since I normally go for ultra lightweight BB creams or tinted sunscreens/moisturisers.
If you're used to something like Estee Lauder Double-Wear (which is for full coverage), I think you will prefer the Sigma F80.
From what I see online, there are an almost equal number of girls using Sephora and girls using F80! haha, so I guess, these two are equally good, and it could depend on where you're located to make the final decision. For me, in Singapore, it is just 10 times easier to run out there to Sephora than pay crazy shipping fee and wait 10 days for Sigma.
I think this brush is 5/5!
Good quality handle and bristles, comfortable and effective in application, and great price (apart from shipping costs).
I am definitely tempted to repurchase, as in buy the full Sigma precision set.
