Milton Lloyd's Night Flower is said to be a dupe for Tom Ford's Black Orchid. If you've never smelt Tom Ford Black Orchid - I suggest that you try it out first before committing to it or any dupes. To put it plainly - its a unique scent - that many have come to love and appreciate whilst others find it vehemently offensive. When it comes to camps, I'm in the "oh I don't know, I kinda like it" variety and I think Night Flower is (if not anything else) a good dupe.

Night Flower is not a giddy scent that will make you think of fresh sunny mornings its dark, sweet and slightly sombre. Look at it this way, if perfumes were drinks - Night Flower would be a whiskey. Ultimately, being too much for the delicate cocktail drinker, too rough for the wine taster and too "deep" (boring) for the weekend binger.
Top Notes: Jasmine, Gardenia, Tuber, Bergamot, Blackcurrant
Middle Notes: Ylan-Ylang, Spicy Notes, Lotus
Base Notes: Patchouli, Incense, Sandalwood, Dark Chocolate, Amber, Vetiver, Vanilla & Resins.
Night Flower is a musky sweet cocoa blend with bitter incense. After the tidal wave of potent bitter cocoa pepper musk takes its rightful back seat *stay back!*; the sweet musk steps closer to your skin blending with it, into a smooth clean revered scent which makes me think of old books, Italian Churches and the Pope. On the other hand, it can easily evoke images of smokey speakeasies, 1920's flappers and motel rendezvous with questionable figures. I think its a scent that smells older and wiser beyond its years even when it flirts with sweetness, Night Flower is pretty serious. Don't be fooled by the "top note" bouquet of supposed sweetness no pansies (weaklings) live here. Night Flower is quiet but strong, judgemental but fair, polite but, by no means submissive.
Just like Black Orchid, Night Flower is a unisex scent (though Milton Lloyd labels it female). Men who wear and love this fragrance adore it as much as the women who have also fallen for it. I think it works on both sexes well and often becomes a signature scent for many as it really hugs to skin nicely. All in all, it's popular, rough but pretty, soft when it dries down and ultimately unforgettable think James Dean in a bottle.
Alright, if my metaphors and similes haven't conveyed the male orientated nature that Night Flower/Black Orchid produces. It's been said that Tom Ford himself wanted Black Orchid to smell like a "man's crotch". *Coughs profusely*. Thankfully, it's a very refined one, whose owner knows the virtues of what good soap can do. Nonetheless "knicker scents" have definitely become more popular and even my beloved NR For Her EDT, apparently smells to some like a ladies unmentionables so, I guess I really can't chat.
Overall Night Flower is a good dupe and a scent that I can play with - like a cat with a ball it intrigues me but, I can't help feeling like it never really belongs to me or anyone else for that matter. Just like a flouncy vintage fur coat, the wearer is as much being worn by the beast as he/she is wearing it. You'd be foolish to think otherwise. Perhaps that's why I've toyed with passing this scent onto a Black Orchid lover to see if it really smells like the real deal and bidding Night Flower + Black Orchid farewell entirely.
Ultimately, I like it but, I prefer this as a layering scent over sweeter more flouncy perfumes. Oh and yeah curious got the better of me and I did layer Night Flower with NR For Her and the results were actually amazing! Yet, it also smelt very nice with a Lancome la vie est belle dupe I have (review coming soon).

* Update - I gave this away to a friend whose partner is an avid fan and user of Tom Ford Black Orchid and from what I heard even he was shocked to find the similarities between the scents. I'm glad :)!
